Musk said SpaceX and Tesla are racing to build an annual solar build capacity of 100 GW, but will still need natural gas over the next few years to supplement and start up solar generation. He said the bottleneck for gas-turbine production is casting blades and guide vanes; bringing casting in-house at SpaceX could bring turbines online up to 18 months faster, a potentially transformative improvement.
