A source at a central nuclear power state-owned enterprise said Alibaba has approached them to discuss building small modular reactors (SMRs) to supply power to its Hangzhou Renhe data center, which has substantial electricity demand. The Renhe site, Zhejiang's first cloud computing data center, supplies compute capacity for AI workloads.
